Terms: Terms 1 (1st XV only), 2 & 3.

Competition: Crusaders “Miles Toyota Championship” 1st XV Competition in Terms 2 & 3 (franchise wide).

Metro JAB Competition for U18 (2nd XV) to U14 teams (Christchurch clubs) in Terms 2 & 3.

An U15 Selection competes in South Island Tournament.

1st XV if successful would qualify for National Top 4 playoffs.

1st XV individuals may be selected in NZ Schools side.

Individuals from all grades may be selected in Metro age group representative teams from U14 to U18.

Training: Terms 1 & 4, off season training in SBHS Gym and field under supervision of SBHS coaches and staff.

Terms 2 & 3, various grassed areas around SBHS or Ascot Park.

Hardcourt areas also allocated for times of wet weather when grounds are closed.

Venues: CRFU allocates grounds around Christchurch for weekly competition.

SBHS home games will be played at either SBHS or Ascot.

Uniform: 1st XV Uniform is supplied.

All other grades purchase jersey ($95.00), shorts ($52) and socks ($20) from Student Services (prices quoted are as at 2023).

Boys supply own boots.

Equipment: CRFU provide free mouth guards.

SBHS provides full set of team equipment including match and training balls, cones, tees, ball pump and first aid kit for each team.

Boys wanting to apply lineout or injury strapping need to supply their own tape.

Scrum machines, tackle bags, tackle suits and hit shields available for teams to share for trainings.

Costs: Rugby Sport Fee for all players $60.

1st XV costs vary depending on number of away trips in competition.

Boys contribute to travel costs if their team is involved in annual exchanges with Kings High School, Marlborough Boys College and Nelson College.

Teams competing in Tournaments or travelling overseas must completely fund all costs, either directly or by fundraising.
