Legal Studies:   12Leg   Full Year 

Course Description: Students will learn why we have laws, the process of law making and gain an understanding of the judicial process. Units studied include topics on the causes and consequences of crime, concepts of justice and law, litigation and dispute resolution, and concepts of democracy and government in New Zealand. Significant legal cases in New Zealand history will also be studied. 

Recommended Entry Criteria: Level 1 Certificate

UE Literacy: No

Qualifications to be gained: 15 Level 2 Unit Standards credits minimum (it may be possible to gain an additional four credits). The majority of the Unit Standards do allow for the attainment of Merit and Excellence grades.
