SBHS —

The beginning of Term Three has seen SBHS welcome several new visitors to the International Department.

Four students from Toko Gakuen  have joined us for the term:  Yuki, Uta, Tomoki and Wataru.  The boys are studying a wide range of subjects including Economics, Accounting, Art, Science, Mathematics and English. They are enjoying their classes and two of the students have taken up the challenge to learn Te Reo as a subject while at Shirley.

31 students from our sister school, Toho High School in Nagoya, Japan, are also with us this term. Our students enjoy having them here, especially those currently studying Japanese.  Toho High School students will be involved in an English Programme as well as activities around Christchurch.

We have 10 students from Aki Minami High School from Hiroshima visiting for two weeks. They are enjoying  English and activity based programmes.

We also welcome Oscar from France, who is here for seven weeks as part of the AFS Cultural Exchange Programme. Oscar  is working with our Year 12 and 13 French class as well as taking classes in Biology, Mathematics and English. He has impressed us with his English skills and has quickly become confident in engaging with students and staff.
