Introducing the Duke of Edinburgh Award

The Duke of Edinburgh Award is a scheme for young people aged 14-25. 

There are three levels to the award (bronze, silver and gold), and four elements to each level.

Service – Volunteering in the community for one hour per week to make a positive difference. (eg. Volunteer referee or coach, in a hospital, conservation projects, surf live saving etc.)

Skill – Improving on a skill, whether it be new or established, for one hour per week to find talent and success in an area of interest. (eg. Musical instrument, cooking, learning a language etc.)

Physical Activity – Participating in a physical activity for one hour per week to improve physical wellbeing. It could be just about anything! (eg. Rock climbing, rugby, rowing, dancing etc.)

Adventurous Journey – Planning, and participating in a multi-day Adventurous Journey, to spark an adventurous spirit! (eg. Tramping, horse riding, white water rafting, bike riding, kayaking etc.)
