Polyfest 2017

Maria Lemalie —

The annual Canterbury Secondary School’s Polyfest was held on Saturday 18 March.

A total of 18 Secondary Schools performed at this popular school event. Shirley Boys High Schools' group has been practicing for over two months and the hard word definitely showed. The group consisted of 47 members.

Uli Pesefea (an Old Boy of SBHS) has been tutoring this group for a number of years. Uli usually enlists the support of other former students to help with the choreography and the execution of the dance moves. This year, he was supported by Harold Kolose who was a Year 13 student in 2016.

There was in excess of 3000 people throughout the day. It was overcast at first, but the sun came through the clouds as  SBHS burst onto the stage after lunch-time. Mr Laurenson was present to give the lads a pre-performance chat, on show day.

We look forward to performing again in 2018, as the group is consistently growing in numbers.
