Gold Standard Award in the Social Sciences

Mike Skinner —

Last year the Social Science Faculty introduced a new award to try and recognise the (often), unheralded, every day, work of our Shirley Boys’ High students in class. Each classroom teacher in the Social Sciences Faculty nominates a student, who in their eyes is deserving of formal recognition. This is called the Gold Standard Recognition Award. ‘The Gold Standard’ is a school wide expectation for all students and staff. It is important to note that this formal recognition can be for a range of things (e.g. regular excellence of effort, output, contribution to discussions, manners, being BTB (Better Than Before) or exceptional one-offs).

The award also recognises that ‘Interest Omnium Recte Facere’ – It is ‘In everyone’s interest to act rightly’.

The Social Sciences Faculty would like to congratulate the following students who received their Gold Standard Award for Term One recently:

The Gold Standard Award recipients all received a certificate, a canteen voucher and their name on the SOCSCI honour roll, which is proudly displayed in a prominent position in the faculty.
