Economics (Ecx - Half-Year)
This course is available for Year 9 students in 2025
Course Description: In this half year course, students will gain some financial literacy knowledge and skills. Students will learn about the history, characteristics and functions of money and will design their own currency. They will also learn about key economic ideas: Maori Trade and use of resources; budgeting skills using Excel; the 4Ps of marketing; and entrepreneurship. A major project for this course is an entrepreneurial “Dragons Den” type project where students design and then promote their product to ‘imaginary’ potential investors. This course leads on to Year 10 Economics and Accounting.
