Blood Donation Day
In the Assembly
Hall on 1 September, 54 students and staff members turned up to donate. Only
seven were unable to do so, for various reasons and the 47 donors each provided
a unit of blood.
As New Zealand Blood Donor Recruiter Atawhai Te Heu explained the next day,
‘This was a fantastic number for your school during the Winter Tournament week. 36 of those 47 were new donors. That’s a huge amount of new donors for a mobile! Thank you to Shirley Boys students and teachers for supporting the New Zealand Blood Service. You guys are really amazing!’
