11 Drama: 11Dra Full Year
Course Description: Year 11 Drama aims to build students' confidence, creative skills, acting ability, collaboration, and communication. Students will have the opportunity to integrate technical theatrical elements such as lighting, sound, and stage design into their performances. The course involves two performances in front of the class, one live public performance, and one written portfolio. Drama students need to be willing to perform in front of others and will be expected to work collaboratively in groups.
Recommended Entry Criteria: Working at a minimum of Curriculum Level 5 in junior Drama and/or English, or significant extra-curricular performing arts experience (e.g. kapa haka, school production).
Qualifications to be gained: 20 Level 1 Achievement Standard credits

12 Drama: 12Dra Full Year
Course Description: Year 12 Drama builds on skills learned in Year 11, further developing performance skills, theatre knowledge, and group collaboration. The course requires written and verbal communication skills and a willingness to perform in front of others. Group collaboration is a key requirement of most assessments. Students will take part in a range of performance assessments, including one public performance, and will complete one external examination at the end of the year.
Recommended Entry Criteria: A minimum of 10 credits from 11Dra, if studied. Otherwise at least 10 credits from any English-rich subject.
Qualifications to be gained: Up to 22 Level 2 Achievement Standard credits

13 Drama: 13Dra Full Year
Course Description: This course focuses on Drama in its more sophisticated forms. It requires independent study skills, written and verbal communication skills, and a willingness to perform in front of others. Knowledge of both practical and theoretical aspects of Drama will be developed. Students will participate in a range of performances throughout the year, including one public performance, and will complete one written external exam at the end of the year. Year 13 Drama students also have the opportunity to explore Scholarship work.
Recommended Entry Criteria: A minimum of 13 credits from 12Dra, if studied. Otherwise, at least 13 credits in Level 2 English or an English-rich Level 2 subject.
UE Literacy: 13 Reading, 4 Writing
UE Approved: Yes
Qualifications to be gained: Up to 22 Level 3 Achievement Standard credits; possibility of scholarship.
