Course Description: Materials Technology (Engineering or Wood) is part of the core requirement for the technology curriculum. 

Materials Technology is a design and make course of study where students solve design problems whilst working with everyday materials such as wood, metals, plastics and bone. This Course is focused mainly on producing wood based products and learning basic wood working skills.

Design skills, which allow students to personalise their projects, are taught.

A design folio, materials environment and safety studies are undertaken as research studies. Students need to study either Wood or Engineering to continue into Year 10 Hard Materials courses.
