On Wednesday 23rd August Shirley Boys’ High School sent three Year 9 and Year 10 teams to participate in the 2023 Cantamaths Competition.

In the competitions 50th year, the teams completed a set of twenty problems worth five points each. The objective, to solve the most questions possible in 30 minutes. The first three teams were awarded prizes.

In the Year 9 competition the SBHS Year 9 #1 team scored 100 points and earned a golden ticket. The golden ticket is a prestigious accolade that represents a perfect score. They went head-to-head with Rangi Ruru in a close battle to claim 2nd place.

The SBHS Year 9 #2 team scored 60 points, while the SBHS Year 9 #3 team scored 55 points.

In the Year 10 competition the SBHS Year 10 #1 team scored 50 points, while the SBHS Year 10 #2 team scored 30 points and the SBHS Year 10 #3 team scored 30 points.
