It was a very busy summer harvesting and re-planting. Continued weekly harvest donation the worthy family. Thanks to Zac (Year 10) who helped for 2hrs on four occasions planting and harvesting during the holidays.
Nursery
We potted up 400 plants of 10 species into PB3 size plastic bags and finished pricking out seedlings into 50x50 native tubes. Now we have 21 species under cultivation and have started collecting seed to start the process again.
Started the first “Eco Action satellite Nursery “ at Christ’s College by supplying a nursery kit of sprinklers and stands timer and 520 plants of 21 species. They will pot them up grow on sell or plant out as they see fit. Their focus will be on the Port Hills fire area rehabilitation.
Beehive
Our bees are still healthy and vigorous. We have added a third honey box as optimistic and other Apiarists reported swarming due to not enough room.
Thanks to Chris Hutchinson.
