Short stay students from France and Spain
This term the school hosted four short stay students who have come from their home countries to experience kiwi culture in a kiwi school.
Eric Sitjes and Yohanes Mateu came from Catalonia in Spain to spend three weeks at Shirley Boys' High School. They followed their own timetable [as opposed to following that of a buddy] and enjoyed subjects such as Chef Training and Sports Academy [football].
Gregoire Gouin and Alexis Pacarin come from Anjou and Toulon respectively. They will be spending a total of four weeks at Shirley Boys' High School, completing their time with us on 14 August. They also followed their own timetable and studied such subjects as Biology, History and Sports Academy [rugby].
All four boys joined in with the Japanese short-stay students on a trip to Akaroa last Thursday.
It has been a pleasure to host students from Europe. Many thanks to the teachers involved and to the homestays who have welcomed the boys into their homes.
