Dear Parent and Caregivers

On the 19th of April, Tasipale Valavala, Judah Watkinson and Matthew Gowans travelled to Auckland taking to take part in the 2016 Aotearoa Youth declaration, organised and operated by the New Zealand United Nations Youth.

In the early hours of the 10th May the official opening ceremony for our new Collaborative Learning space, ‘Ngātahi’, took place. 

In the middle weekend of the holidays six students from Shirley BHS and six from Marian College headed to Nanjing to be part of the Five School’s Cultural Exchange' which we have been part of since 1997. The other schools involved are all sister schools of Toho HS in Nagoya – Nanjing Foreign Language School and Salesian College, Melbourne.

24 SBHS rowers competed in the recent New Zealand Secondary Schools Rowing Championships (commonly known as Maadi) held in Twizel.

The SBHS Formal is on Saturday 11 June at the Air Force Museum, Harvard Avenue, Wigram. It is regarded as the social highlight of the school year for senior students.
