Bands - Jazz, Pipe and Rock

JAZZ BAND

This exciting band comprising boys of all ages from Year 9 – Year 13. The group regularly play at school and are involved each year with CPIT Jazz Quest and also the Southern Jam Youth Jazz Festival based in Blenheim. Any boys learning brass or saxophone and wanting to be part of a tight knit group should check this out.

PIPE BAND

A newly formed group that perform at a variety of different events, the main ones being prize-givings, assemblies, and special events such as Anzac Day. They play a variety of pipe tunes including both the traditional as well as some modern. They hope one day to emulate the Red Hot Chilli Pipers. New pipers and drummers always welcome.

ROCK BANDS

Usually formed in class time and then carried on into their own time, these groups get to practice at times organized by themselves and the Music Department staff. These groups get to play in assemblies and concerts generally their main goal is to get to Smoke-free Rockquest in Term 2. In 2013 we were fortunate enough to have all three of our bands reach the Canterbury Finals with one group, Nomad, going on to compete in the National Finals.
