2015 Shirley Man Ceremony

The 2015 Shirley Man Ceremony took place in the School Assembly Hall on Friday, 30th October.

The object of the Award Ceremony was to celebrate the 'character aspect' of student life from the five years our Year 13 students have been with us.

Typically, the event was full of Shirley Boys' High School culture, kapa haka and music. Our resident student MC, Lachlan Murdoch, once again did a fantastic job running proceedings.

Student speaker Michael Norris shared the ‘lighter’ side of his time at Shirley Boys’ and Old Boy Tony Christie spoke about his many sporting successes and injury struggles. Our Headmaster tied things together with an inspirational speech to our leavers before Head Boy Dom Bain presented four Distinction Blazer pockets to our top contributors: Matthew Croft, Alexander Wilson, Tom Christie, Kevin Jonker, Bradley Moore and Jordan Kahika.

Special mention must go to NOMAD band members Aasha Mallard, Cullen Kiesanowski and Will McGillivray who are always amazing, to Alex Bataller for his awesome classical guitar solo and the Year 13 Choir which battled through the recessional music!

The Ceremony concluded with canapés and refreshments where students, teachers and parents could reflect on a top bunch of boys moving on to the next stage of their lives.

A big thanks to all who made the event a success.
