Our values

Jo Meyrick —

Our values guide us to behave in a way that allows ourselves and others to learn. They also support us to feel happy and safe at school.

Teachers’ will notice and hand out STAR cards to students when they show any of our STAR values in the classroom. Each class has a “special” place in their classrooms to keep these safe.

Each week at team assemblies (hapu hui) two names will be randomly chosen from each class and these students will get to spin the wheel and will win a reward.

All STAR cards get counted at the end of each week and teachers keep count on a spreadsheet as students aim to reach 25, 50, 75 and 100 STAR cards.

25 = wristband

50 = an email home to celebrate

75 = A special award in assembly and a dip in the prizebox

100 = A special award in assembly and lunch with Mr Sim

House Groups

Teachers’ will notice and hand out house tokens to students when they show our four STAR values in the playground or at a school event. Students put their token in the house token box outside Māhuri.

House tokens are added up and recorded every second week and then the winning house is announced in assembly. The winning house is awarded the school trophy and the house group will get to perform their chant.

Houses are working together to win the end of term reward. During the term, we aim to gather in our houses to collaborate, learn and have fun. This year we are having this event on Thursday 9th March in the afternoon, in conjunction with the colour run.
