Ti Kōuka 1
Our inquiry topic this term in Tī Kōuka is safety and learning how we can keep ourselves safe and look after others.
On the 2nd of June, T1 was lucky enough to have Paula from St John come in and teach us what to do if we are in an emergency and teach us skills to help others. We were taught the DRSABC's which stands for Danger, Response, Send for help, Airways, Breathing and CPR. We role played these steps in pairs and practiced rolling each other onto their sides to protect them if they were unconscious. We got to practice putting on bandages for major cuts, as well as learning F.A.C.E for identifying stroke. She showed us her gadgets in her first aid kit, epipen and told us about the defibrillator in the school office. It was lots of fun and we even went home to practice with our parents
