About us

Shirley Primary School —

Shirley Primary School caters for children from Year 0 to 6, with a current roll of 326 pupils.

The Shirley Primary School Board of Trustees have worked hard to ensure the school is a positive, welcoming, safe and well-resourced physical environment. Each learning space is well-equipped with teaching and learning resources.  Our facilities include a hall, and a well resourced and designed library. In the summer, children can enjoy lunch and play in our newly landscaped area or on our shaded decks.  Shade sails are placed in different areas to keep children safe in the sun.  Our park like grounds boast big playing fields, a sand pit,  Gaga dodgeball pit, an all weather cricket pitch and a junior friendly playground.  We are currently upgrading our landscaping to include some exciting new plans which include a scooter track and basket swings.

We are a diverse, multi-ethnic school, which is something we celebrate. Our cultural mix is New Zealand European 55%, Maori 15%, Pasifika 8%, African 4%, Filipino 4% with the other 13% comprising of Asian and other European. We enjoy working with our school community to support our children in reaching for the stars.
