Landscaping update stage two

Shirley Primary School —

We are very quickly moving on to the second phase of our landscaping with the first phase on the courtyard in front of Akeake largely complete.

The second phase started very quickly on Tuesday morning with the fencing off of an area on the perimeter of the back field. This is an area which is now effectively out of bounds for the children.

The map below shows the work to be completed. Unfortunately it is a little small but hopefully you can get the general idea. There will be an obstacle course and an asphalt track around the outside of the field for scootering. These will be surrounded by native grasses, flaxes, akeake and ti kouka. There will also be tunnels and two basket swings.

This work should be completed by the end of the school holidays. One area of impact for our school community will be that the back school pedestrian gate will be locked other than between 8:30am and 9am and 2:45pm and 3:15pm (exact times still to be finalised). Outside of these times you will not be able to access school through the back pedestrian gate until the project is completed
