Nourish Oraka - special cultural and religious requirements in the lunches

Shirley Primary School —

Nourish Ōraka has provided the following details on how they are meeting special cultural and religious requirements in the school lunches:

No pork products are used in any of the lunches.
The chicken we use is Brinks smoked chicken, from their halal certified “Best Bird” range: https://brinks.co.nz/our-range/best-bird

Halal and Beef Free lunches contain the halal chicken on the days standard lunches contain beef. Beef Free and Halal lunches are prepared in a separate room using clean equipment.

The cheese we use for all lunches is Alpine Edam: https://www.dairyworks.co.nz/professional-food-service (vegetarian and halal approved, see p7 of catalogue for details) and the yoghurt we use is Easiyo: https://www.easiyofoodservice.com/nz/products/yogurt-base-mixes/greek-style-coconut-flavour-yogurt-base/ (vegetarian, all halal compliant ingredients).
Vegetarian students’ lunches have no meat and plant based substitutes such as falafel.

Vegetarian, egg free lunches do not contain meat and have vegan mayonnaise.
