Kia ora from the Board

BOT —

At our final meeting for 2017 the board wrapped up a busy year by looking ahead to to the next one! We discussed our charter and budget for 2018.

The charter is our strategic plan - it contains our list of priorities for next year and the actions we’ll take to implement them, as well as our vision and values.

We reviewed the learning progress of the children and also a range of reports on aspects of health and safety, school policy and other projects that are underway (you’ll see more wonderful playground equipment installed in term 1 next year!). As always, the growth of our school, and the systems and staffing that we need to have in place to “create a climate of possibility”, featured in our conversations.

We acknowledged the fabulous work of the Friends of the School in fundraising and building community spirit. Funds raised will go towards kapa haka uniforms, orienteering gear, equipment for the wetland project, camp travel, tracksuits for school representatives, the sports coordinator role, the playground … amongst other things!

We’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone in our school community - the staff, the volunteers, the parents, and the children themselves - for sharing their passions and contributing in ways big and small (everything counts!) to another great year at Shotover. We also wish the very best to our first cohort of year 8s to graduate - kia kaha.

We look forward to seeing you at the Bring and Sing on Tuesday to celebrate. Have a great summer break.

Ka kite ano, Sarah (on behalf of the Board of Trustees)
