Netball & Touch Rugby

Anna Browne —

As one season closes another season opens. Goodbye to term 1 Touch Rugby and welcome to 2019 Netball!

Touch Rugby

Term 1 2019 season has now finished - Thank you to the Players, coaches, managers and supporters for all that you do, particularly the coaches for their continued commitment. We have a lot of touch teams now and the kids love the sport.

At the beginning of the season Touch Southland ran a really worthwhile practical 'coaches' session, for those that could make it. We’ll look to hold it again before next season.

It’s been a great summer with a lot of beautiful Monday afternoons to watch Touch Rugby. Enjoy the winter ahead with whatever sport your child enjoys, it may be a season of rugby, netball, soccer, skiing or you may just prefer hibernate! Touch Rugby will be back in Term 4!

2019 Netball season & Alexandra Netball Tournament

This year we have 10 Shotover Netball teams and all of them kicked the season off by competing in the Alexandra Primary School Tournament last Saturday, 6th April. A great way to get teams together and have a number of consecutive games to find their feet. Well done to all the teams - I have heard about some great results. We have a good number of new Year 3 players this year taking to the court this season, it's lovely to see new faces in the game. All the players looked very smart kitted out with their new Netball skorts and Netball dresses.

A big 'Thanks' to the coaches and Managers who have signed up for the season and for those that supported the teams at the tournament. It’s a real commitment and the girls are really grateful. All the best for the season - Wakatipu Netball Centre competition gets underway this Saturday 13th April. Check out the draw on the Wakatipu Netball website. No netball through the rest of the holidays, next game 4th May.
