Shotover Superstars!
Queenstown Global Games Rugby Results!
Last weekend, Saturday 6th & Sunday 7th September, a large group of our Shotover kids competed in the largest rugby festival in the South Island, Queenstown Global Games.
They had some fantastic results and most importantly a great experience with a chance to meet and play kids from all over the country.
The year 8s including Callum Longthorn, Nixon Ryall, Luka Paterson, Lewis McMurdo, Charlie Larmer and Eoghan Meharg won all their games to go undefeated for the whole tournament. They also go on tour to Taupo at the end of the term to compete in the largest Junior Rugby festival in New Zealand in Taupō. Good luck boys!
The year 7s including Oliver Patterson, Brax Evans, Lucas O’Reilly, Jackson Kennedy and Carter Dickson also won all their games and very deservedly were awarded the Team of the Festival - a huge honour which recognises both on and off the field performance.
The year 6s including Xander Sutton, Tate Jevon, Lachie Beames, Christian Taylor, Noah Humphries, Niko Gardner, Sam Grimmer, Miller Cook, Leo Richardson and Oscar Smith had a great win against Silverdale and a couple of draws against Star and Waitete.
The year 5s including Jacob Coates, Ryder Coulter, Arlo Azar, Max Matheson, Ryker Van Der Voorn competed in their first tournament and it was a great chance to experience playing against teams from outside of our district. They had a solid win against Sumner along a draw against Springston.
