Message from Brosnan Construction

Lisa Cooke —

At last, the new classroom block is rising from the ground!!

With foundations now cut, reinforcing placed and our new classroom floor slab needing a bit of concrete, we're excited to announce we will have it in before the Christmas break.

How does this affect you, and why should you care?  This will enable us to assemble the steel structure when the school is not is session, and children are not present on the school grounds over the school holidays making this a safer time to carry out cranage works.

With around 30 truckloads of concrete due, to minimise traffic congestion and interference with pedestrians (especially if children are walking to school), we believe pouring this slab on a Saturday will greatly assist with the safety management of this activity.

How this activity may affect you, as neighbours to the school:

  • We are needing to pour this concrete early morning to ensure the concrete is in before the heat of the day restricts the ability to place the concrete smooth and flat.
  • Noise levels expected to hear will be that of reversing trucks and of the concrete being placed through a pump.  There will be no grinding or cutting equipment used, we will only allow the tools required to ensure the concrete is placed to a quality standard.
  • The entry gate to the site will be manned to assist with pedestrian and traffic flow, we will always put your safety first.
  • By doing this pour in one day, will reduce the effect this project has on your community rather than multiple pours over multiple days thus reducing ongoing nuisance to the community.
  • Having concrete laid will greatly reduce dust generation blown from our site.  As this slab will effectively cover over 75% of the project footprint.

This pour will take place on Saturday, 9 December 2017 from 5.00am.  Your co-operation and tolerance with this activity is appreciated, thank you.

As always should you have any questions or queries relating to the project or relevant issues, please do not hesitate to contact myself at daniel.dwyer@brosnan.co.nz
