UNITED YOUTH VOICE

Lisa Cooke —

We are a new Youth Engagement Committee that is dedicated to ensuring the voices of the youth (ages between 12-24) within the Wakatipu Basin are fairly and accurately represented in local body council decision regarding Wakatipu Basin and its youth.

The first way we are doing this is by targeting the year 7 and 8’s in your primary school during Youth Week (26th-4th June). Youth Week is exactly what the name states; a week for youth to express themselves with this year's theme being "Our voices count; count our voices." While at the school, we will be doing activities and asking them questions to get their views. We will also give them some insight of what will be happening this year. All this information we gather will be passed on to decision-making areas in the Wakatipu Basin.

We are also introducing a film competition, where you make a short 2-minute film expressing your own interpretation of, “Our voices count; count our voices." We have amazing prices for first, second and third place. If you are interested please email uyvwaktipu@gmail.com and we will send you the specifications. All films are due before the 16th of June.

We hope you take part and are excited to hear everyone's opinion!
