As the year progresses and children turn five, it is normal for our new entrant numbers to increase. To cater for the growing number of children in Hays, Emily Bowden will join Kirsty and Kathryn at the beginning of Term 3. You may have met Emily as she has worked at SPS from time to time. She is an enthusiastic and compassionate teacher who believes in building strong relationships with the children and their families so that they thrive.
At the end of this term Kate Clydesdale is leaving us to head back to Dunedin for six months. Lucy McKenzie will be joining the Skippers team early in Term 3. Lucy has been teaching in the Queenstown area since 2016. We are very excited to have secured her as she is a knowledgeable teacher who enjoys working collaboratively.
Over the course of a term we have many cultural and sporting events, which require many tasks ranging from coaching, parent help, and fundraising led by FOS to name a few. It takes many hours and we are grateful for how generous our community is as it supports the many opportunities that we provide for our children. Thank you.
I want to acknowledge the SPS staff and how dedicated and determined they are as they support the smooth running of our school, while delivering the very best of learning to our children. The way our team works is a real credit to Ben’s leadership and the way he, along with the Board’s support, has developed the culture of our staff. We look forward to welcoming Ben back at the beginning of Term 3 and hearing about his learning when he returns from his sabbatical.

Our school pick-up areas continue to be busy places, so please re-familiarise yourself with the guidelines. If you are coming into school, you must park on the streets. Please check the guidelines below and support each other to make this a safe and efficient place for our children to be picked up from.
