We had an exciting start to the week where we welcomed back our very own Emily Forne fresh from her domination of the Godzone Adventure Race last week. Maybe taking some licence there, however it was an amazing effort by Emily and her three teammates to navigate their way around the wilds of Fiordland. To come out on top was the result of some persistence, hard work, effort and extraordinary mental capacity. Remaining calm under pressure with very little sleep is a significant achievement. Check out this video of the battle Emily and her team had with Swordfox, who eventually came in second.

Thank you to all who helped even in some small way with the first Triathlon at the Events Centre on Monday morning. In particular to Nick Brown and our new sports coordinator Anna Browne ensuring that our systems are in place to run such an event. I managed to make it down for the final stages. It was great to see so many parents in encouragement and marshalling roles. It was even more pleasing to see our Shotover kids putting in the effort to ensure the best result they could muster for their team.

Thanks to those parents and even Grandparents who have taken the opportunity to visit during our open week this week. A chance to visit us in full swing and see what it looks like. There is still opportunity to visit tomorrow and Friday. Visit this form here to book your slot.

As Steve Jobs was famous for saying…one more thing… This week we regretfully accepted the resignation of Mrs Carmel Casey. Carmel has accepted a role at Wanaka Primary which places her much closer to her home and significantly reduces her commute. Carmel will be finishing with us at the end of this term. To the parents of children in Skippers we are working on appointing someone to fill the role in the Skippers team and once we have further information on this front we will let you know. Carmel was with us from our very first day of operation. She has been an integral part of the Shotover team and we wish well at Wanaka Primary.
