Student Murals

Michael Harrop —

Our senior school students wanted our school environment to represent our community and values.

As part of their Term 3's project based learning, the seniors inquired into different art forms and the messages they communicate. They began by creating a taonga for a special person in their life. They had to think about what was meaningful to them, select an appropriate art form, create the art then record the description and explanation.

This lead the students into thinking about making a taonga for our school. They wanted to express through their art, what we value here and to represent our community. The murals were then designed and created by all learners in our senior school, and have started going up this week. Come on in and have a look!
