Water Safety- Dryland sessions

Alana Curry —

We are hugely appreciative of Wendy Smith for providing a water safety session in our classrooms this week.

Wendy Smith, an aquatic education and water safety advisor for Swimming New Zealand, came into all our classrooms this week to share some general water safety facts and guidelines.

Using a story to introduce key safety ideas for all ages, our children learned to always swim with an adult - never swim alone, wear a life jacket (apparently most drownings are in the 40 to 60-year-old age bracket as they are not doing this!) and swim between the flags.

It was a great session for our children to get them thinking before they hit the water this summer.
