Our Māori Art Group have been working on their weaving skills, practising with heavy paper and card before they try harekeke.

To create a variety of interesting work the warp (black paper) was cut with curved, diagonal or zigzag lines so the weft (card strips that are passed over and under) create interesting shapes and patterns.  The young artists had fun creating.

For Matariki celebrations the children created greeting cards using black scratch paper.  They planned their pictures for the front of the cards before scraping the black coating off to expose the colour underneath.  All used the koru design in their work.
