We have had a fun start to Term 3 in the Middle School!
Volcanoes, caves, continents, rivers, lakes, earthquakes and more!
The Middle school has just finished a series of learning rotations, where they explored and learnt more about a variety of landforms that can be found in New Zealand.
Each teacher in the Middle school specialised in an area, then guided the students as they inquired and participated in fun hands on activities to help them understand landforms even better. Making caves out of Play-doh, rivers with sand, tote-trays and water, paper volcanoes and much much more!
Check out this link Mrs Rosser shared with the middle school students; now you can have a go at signing 'earth quake' in sign language! https://www.nzsl.nz/signs/1669
Within our classes, we have also discovered and read a variety of Maori myths and legends that explain how New Zealand landforms were created. We have also begun to look at maps and identifying places within New Zealand.
