With significant changes to the New Zealand Curriculum this year, the Ministry of Education is requiring schools to take Teacher Only Days to enable staff opportunities to engage in Professional Learning and Development.

The Ministry of Education gives schools the ability to schedule a few teacher-only days throughout the year - these are days designed for staff to gather together for professional development, plan and develop our curriculum, and continue to work on building our school culture. 

With our community in mind, this year we have decided on dates in consultation with our Kāhui Ako (schools in our community of learning). This means all schools in the area including Berkley Normal Middle School and Hillcrest High School should have Teacher Only Days at the same time. 

Currently, we have TWO Teacher Only Days scheduled for 2023:

• Monday, 24 April (Kāhui Ako wide - NZC Refresh)
  
• Friday, 16 June (Kāhui Ako wide - Culturally Responsive Practice)
  

On these days, our school will be CLOSED FOR INSTRUCTION. Only staff will be onsite.
