Silverdale at Alert Level 2

Michael Harrop —

I’m sure like me you were happy to receive the news that we will remain at Alert Level 2.

Life at Level 2 seems to be feeling fairly normal now. We are used to constantly sanitising our hands, keeping our distance where necessary, and coughing and sneezing into our elbows! Most of our programmes are up and running as normal, but unfortunately all school wide / syndicate wide events or gatherings can not happen.

Thank you so much for the way you as a community have also flexed with the changes. Everyone is signing in either with the COVID Tracing app or physically at the gate - this is much appreciated. Thanks also to those parents choosing not to come onsite - remember, normally we welcome people with wide open doors, but under level 2 we need to minimise those coming on site.

I have included our summary sheet of school processes at level 2 for your reference. Key processes in play at Level 2 at Silverdale:

  • Good hand hygiene and cough and sneeze etiquette
  • Staying away if sick
  • Keeping the appropriate physical distance from others
  • Cleaning and disinfecting our high touch surfaces daily
  • Displaying QR code posters at our entrances and encouraging all of our community to download the NZ COVID Tracer App and use it if they come onsite
  • Keeping a visitor register for anyone who cannot use the app.

We know all these things will help to keep our community as safe as possible. Because of these measures, your child does not need to wear a face covering while at school. We will of course support them, should they choose to do so.

Using our School App is the best way to stay up to date with any changes to processes and school responses to the various levels. A video is attached below to help you download and set this up.

Thanks again for all your support!

He waka eke noa!
