Splashing Good Time at the Swimming Showcase!!
Some serious fun and excitement was had at our annual Swimming Showcase. We were so happy to be able to hold this event after the disruption of the last few years. Our students once again demonstrated whanaungatanga and what makes Silverdale Normal such an awesome community to be amongst, cheering and supporting all our learners as they tried their best.
Some of our students have only just started swimming in the last 6 months!! It was also fantastic to have members from our PAT Ave satellite class join in on our special day. The afternoon swim time allowed the older children to experience the Bomb pool with cannon balls, pin drops, flips and manus.
One of the highlights of the day is the students v teachers v parents race. This is always a close event and this year, the parents came from behind to win. The students boys and girls teams were declared a draw with both of their last swimmers touching the wall at the same time. It was great to see so many children test themselves with the 25m and 50m swim and a number of our children doing a new 100m swim challenge.
Thanks again to all the parents who were able to come and support us, and to the amazing PTG for organising the sausage sizzle and ice blocks.
We are so fortunate at Silverdale Normal to have a pool and it really shows in how capable our learners are in the water. Special thanks again to JPW and their generous work in getting our pool resurfaced painting, the PTG and their support, Mr Nikorn and everyone else that repaired our school pool and who maintain our pool so our tamariki get the chance to swim every day!!
