Triennial School Board Elections 7th September 2022

Priscilla Thatcher —

Have you ever thought about standing to be on the Board of Trustees? You should receive nomination forms by Friday,15th July. Nominations will close at noon on Friday, 5th August.

All of New Zealand's state and state-integrated schools have a school board which is the Crown entity responsible for the governance of the school.

The board:

  • ensures every student can reach his or her highest possible standard in student achievement
  • is the employer of all staff in the school
  • sets the school's strategic direction in consultation with parents, whānau, staff, students and the wider school community
  • is responsible for overseeing the management of personnel, curriculum, property, finance and administration

It's a big job... and an important one. As a school we rely on people in our community putting their hands up and being willing to give of their time and talents in ensuring the continued success of our awesome school. If you are keen to know more, please read through the attached PDF put together by the New Zealand Trustees Association, or get in touch with me by emailing michaelh@silverdale.school.nz
