Mangaonua Gully Open Day

Priscilla Thatcher —

Sunday, 16th August 2020 from 1.00 to 3.00pm - 60 Silverdale Road, Hamilton

Hamilton City Council is currently developing a 'Nature in the City Strategy' which is about growing more nature in Hamilton.  The Waikato River and gullies will be a key focus of the strategy.  Our beautiful gullies are special places and home to many plants, birds, animals, fish and insects.  They are also places where people connect with and care for nature through activities such as walking trails, pest control, planting and restoration work.

As part of developing the strategy HCC are hosting this gully open day in the Mangaonua Gully.  This is an opportunity for HCC to hear from you - how you currently connect with nature and how you would like to see nature grow in Hamilton.  Your feed back will help shape the Nature in the City Strategy.

They will also be joined by Ngaati Hauaa Mahi Trust and local kaumatua who will be doing some ceremonial tree planting, as well as Mangaonua Gully restoration champions who will 'show and tell' you how they've helped restore the gully.

Tea, coffee and snacks will be available.  There is no need to register, just come along on the day.
