As part of our Matariki focus, Room 5 has composed a Matariki poem. We brainstormed some Matariki words and then thought about how some of the words linked together. We then worked together to compose our poem. After we had composed our poem we each did an illustration related to the poem. Some of these are attached below.

Matariki the Māori New Year
Harvest our kai for a celebration feast
A cluster of nine stars
We remember our ancestors
Matariki cousin of Ra
Waiti and Waita food from the moana and awa.
