Year 5 and 6 students at Silverdale have been learning all about art and how it allows us to communicate messages.

This term we have been learning about different art techniques while using different media such as paint, coloured pencil, pastel, paper, clay and sketch. The children have looked at various artists like Andy Warhol and their styles like pop art or cubism. They have copied these styles to create their own pieces. Each child then created a taonga (gift) for someone special in his or her life. Now the children are working on creating art pieces to be displayed around the school that help us show our diversity of cultures and interests. Here is some of the art we have created while improving the students' creative skills.
