Mini-Olympics in Room 18
Earlier this term Room 18 have been learning about different roles people have; and in Mathematics we have been collecting data and graphing our results.
We have used the Olympic Games to begin this learning. During our Social Studies lessons we have been learning about the Olympics and what athletes do. Then in Mathematics we are looking at the medal tally and adding to our bar graph of New Zealand medals.
To make this learning extra fun and inviting, we held our own mini-Olympics, so students could have a little taste of being an athlete. Participation from all students was amazing! A lot of happy faces throughout the events. We began with lighting the torch. Some of the activities were Equestrian routines, gumboot throwing, running races, Frisbee throwing, egg and spoon races, and participating in a game called 'corn in the hole'. We finished the event with a medal ceremony. A fantastic fun time was had by everyone.
