On Wednesday, 19th of October, Silverdale Normal School took two teams to Southwell School to compete in the annual Lit Quiz. Together with 41 other primary and intermediate schools from all around the region, they put their knowledge of literature to the test.

The teams battled through ten rounds of questions, which tested their knowledge on a wide range of literature which spanned from Pokémon, to Greek mythology, to Harry Potter, to Shakespeare. Our teams stayed cool, calm and collected under pressure. It was wonderful to see the pride and excitement on their faces when they got questions correct. 

Our Lit Quiz teams worked very hard leading up to this event, meeting every Monday in Term 3 to prepare. I really enjoyed looking through their reading notebook on Mondays as they consumed new literature and it was a joy hearing them discuss their new reads and recommending books to each other. It is very evident that these students have developed a life-long love of reading! 

Although they are all disappointed that Lit Quiz has finished for the year, they are looking forward to putting their hand up to compete again when they reach Intermediate.
