Kia ora e te whanau!
Did you know that the kaiako here at Silverdale put time aside each week to learn some te reo māori?
This week in our staff hui we practiced the 'au' sound. In māori, when combined, these 2 vowels sound like the ending of 'toe'.
So if you can say 'toe' or 'row', you can say 'Taupō' - 'toe paw'.Here are some words that have the same sound for you to give a go!
Taupō
Hauraki
Tauranga
Kaukau - swim
Whanau
Kauri
Ōhau
Ōhaupō
Mokau
