This term the junior school is learning about the Waikato River and the water cycle. To assist with this learning over the next few weeks we have an Interactive water model set up at school designed by the Hamilton City Council that we have been lucky enough to have access to.The model shows the journey of our drinking water, stormwater and wastewater as it travels from the Waikato River to the pump stations and treatment plants around our city, then to our homes.

Our learners have been exploring the model as they pump water, turn taps on, observe what happens when there is a blockage and see how plants along the banks of a waterway or stormwater catchpit can affect the flow of stormwater into the river.
