Maths Week 2020

Brent Taylor —

Kia ora e te whānau, Maths Week 2020 is on from Monday 10th August until Friday 14th August.

This year Silverdale Normal School is celebrating maths by creating maths related art - solving maths murder mysteries or cracking secret codes.

In the middle and senior syndicates there is also a daily problem solving challenge where students can hand in their answers and go into the draw to win a prize.

There are lots of ways that you can support your child in developing his/her mathematical thinking skills. Some ideas are cooking, playing board games, shopping, reading maps, doing puzzles or keeping score in sports games.

Here is a link to maths board games that you can print off and play. Alternatively you could watch Michael Manas’ youtube videos for fun game ideas that he and his family have created.

Attached is a question that was set for the staff on Monday. Can you solve the problem?
