Silverdale Normal School

Newsletter Week 2, Term 1, 2021

Kia ora e te whānau!

Welcome back to another exciting year at school! There is a real buzz out there in our school community with excited teachers and learners keen to make the most of the opportunities ahead of us this year.

I'd like to take this chance to welcome all of our new families! Welcome to Silverdale Normal School! We are glad that you are here. At Silverdale we value our families, friends and whānau and it is our desire that you feel welcome and at home here. I would also like the chance to meet you in person, chat with you about our awesome wee school and hear your aspirations for your learner. Please feel free to get in touch with the school office to make an appointment and call in. I'd love to talk with you.

Like the rest of us, I am sure that you have been keeping up with the latest developments with our situation here in New Zealand as we continue to keep COVID 19 out! How great was it to have a restriction free summer holiday! We are truely lucky to be in this wonderful country. So New Zealand remains at Alert Level 1 - the virus is contained. This means that school is a safe place for all. We continue to keep up our increased hygiene practices throughout the school including regular sanitisation of high touch surfaces, encouraging regular hand washing and hand sanitiser in all classrooms. We also ask that all members of our community (children and adults) remember that if you are feeling unwell - please stay at home. If your child is going to be away from school, please inform the school office by calling, texting or using our school app - all details can be found on our school website

As a school we have learnt a lot from 2020 and we have continued to develop out Pandemic Plan should we need to access it again. If you would like more information on the various alert levels and what restrictions are in place at each, the COVID-19 website is a great place to start and can be found here.

Thanks for your continued support! We are really lucky to have such an amazing community as ours.

Looking forward to another great year!

Michael Harrop

Principal
