Newsletter Week 2, Term 3, 2022

Kia ora e te whānau,

Welcome back for Term 3!

I can not believe how fast we seem to be flying through the year. Half way through already!

AND we've started to see the sun again ☀!!

Term 3 is always a busy one - and one where we encourage our learners to push their limits and work on resilience and persistence. There are plenty of opportunities this term for learners to grow in these areas with cross country, speech competitions and learning showcases scheduled. I always appreciate the pride that our students exude when they courageously push themselves to try something new and have that sense of achievement - you can't beat it!

It was brilliant to start the term off with our Learning Conversations - and actually have these kanohi ki te kanohi (face to face). Thank you to everyone who was able to attend these hui and play an important part in setting goals for the remainder of the year. As I mentioned earlier in the year, these meetings are part of our reporting schedule - giving you the full picture of your child's growth and progress. The reporting post on Seesaw should be read in conjunction with the Learning Conversations. The feedback I have received from both staff and whānau is that these meetings are so useful - not only in understanding more about the classroom programmes, but in feeling connected to school. If you were not able to attend a hui over the times we had available, our teachers will be in touch over the coming days to see a time that might work for you. Phone conversations and Zoom calls are also available to help make the meetings more accessible for you.

We have also had a number of new whānau join us this term.

Nau mai, haere mai!

We hope you feel welcome. If you haven't already met with me, I would love to have a catch up with you, answer any questions you have, and share about our awesome school. Feel free to email me directly or call through to the office to set up a time.

Principal

To assist with this learning over the next few weeks we have an Interactive water model set up at school designed by the Hamilton City Council that we have been lucky enough to have access to.The model shows the journey of our drinking water, stormwater and wastewater as it travels from the Waikato River to the pump stations and treatment plants around our city, then to our homes.
