On Monday, all of our Year 6 students were fortunate enough to take part in a leadership training session. This was facilitated by the Waikato Institute for Leadership and Sport Studies.

This term in Room 6 we are learning about animals. We have been looking at the different features animals have and grouping them according to these characteristics.

This year, we welcomed six second year student teachers to Silverdale Normal.

Under the new setting, there have been some changes to our safety systems and processes.

Can you please ensure you have a change of clothing packed in your child's school bag each day. Due to the weather, this is more important than ever during Terms 2 and 3.

Children's Weekly Classes - Boost your child’s confidence in a fun learning environment

The University of Waikato Hamilton Campus is open on Friday 27th May and Saturday 28th May to give students and their whānau the option to experience the best of what the University has to offer on the day that suits them best.

As part of our inquiry into living things this term we are having a go at making 'Grass Heads' to practice daily scientific observation and note taking skills.

Next meeting date is Tuesday, 7th June at 7.00pm. We always welcome new members - we’d love to see some new faces at our meetings. If you can’t commit to meetings but would like to help out at events, please let us know. We especially need parents that can help out during the day occasionally. The Middle School has begun the term exploring plants, their parts and the jobs that each part of the plant does.

This after school enrichment programme is held every Tuesday from 3.10 to 4.10pm or 5.10pm in Room 7.

Our new kīwaha for this term is Me he tē - Like a boss. This kīwaha can be used after you've done something awesome and are feeling a bit chuffed about it.

The sessions start today, Wednesday, 11th May from 3.15 to 4.15pm in Room 7.

Enrolments have now closed. The After School Māori Art Class will be held from 3.15 to 4.15pm in Room 10 beginning next Tuesday,17th May.
