Newsletter Week 3, Term 4, 2022

Kia ora e te whanau,

It has been an incredibly busy term so far! And it's only going to get busier! There is a lot to pack in, and with only five and half weeks left, it is going to go by fast. There are quite a few events scheduled to help wrap up the year, so stay tuned to Seesaw, Newsletters and our School Calendar to keep up with what's happening and when.

Ever since the removal of the Traffic Light System (COVID Protection Framework) we have seen the WELCOME return to our friends and whānau back on site. It has been awesome to see so many of you coming on site, seeing the classrooms and connecting with teachers and other caregivers. I want to encourage you, FEEL FREE TO COME ON IN! We really missed seeing you all over the past few years and hope you know that you are welcome back. We have continued to have staff members on the gates in the mornings and afternoons - not to monitor visitors, but for safety reasons and to provide a warm welcoming greeting to our students each day. Looking forward to seeing you on site soon.

This week has been our 'Celebrating our Cultures' Week. One of my absolute favourite times in the year. All week long we have had whanau coming in and teaching us about aspects of their cultures. Stories, dances, traditional clothing, and sometimes food! This week finished today with the most incredible Cultural Parade and Assembly. The children all looked amazing in their traditional clothing and waving the various flags of the around 30 different nationalities represented at our kura. A special thanks to Ms AK who, with the help of parents and community members, created a presentation of song, dance and speeches from some of our cultures here at school. It was BEAUTIFUL to watch. I am already looking forward to next year when we might see even more cultures represented in this way!

I hope you all have a relaxing weekend with your whānau.

As always, if you would like to connect with me - please call the office to make an appointment, or email me directly.

Michael Harrop

Principal
