Winter Sports Tournament

Ben Gorman —

On Tuesday 5 July we had 8 teams participating in the North Canterbury Primary School One Day Winter Tournament.

On Tuesday Years 5-8 participated in the One Day Winter Tournament. 8 teams that play either football, hockey or netball in the interschool competition on Friday afternoons competed against schools across the Rakahuri and Pegasus Zones.

Some of our teams were moved up to the A-grade competition due to student illness that had necessitated a change in the draw and the Yr 7/8 netball team the Bullets had to default as they only had one player. Although the weather was freezing students still had a great day and showed great sportsmanship.

Congratulations to the Stingers (Y 7/8 netball) who made it to the finals, they played an awesome game against Pegasus but lost by a narrow margin 6-4.

Many thanks to Tina Swain and Holly Stewart who helped out and the three incredible former students: Isabella Collinson, Isabella Mackenzie and Callum Blake and also Samantha Murphy from Rangiora High.

We would also like to acknowledge Mrs Marriott, Miss Greenlaw and Angela who braved the cold conditions to manage the teams.
