Respect for the Environment
Over the next two weeks, we will have a focus on caring for the environment. We can not respect God without respecting the world which He has given us. Let's stand together to ensure our children's children inherit a better world than we have now!
Hello all
When we think of the garden of Eden we think of paradise. While we can be quick to think that the garden would still be perfect if it weren't for the arrival of Adam and Eve... this would miss the point a little. I don't believe it could have been perfect because to be perfect it would need to fulfil its purpose - and it wasn't doing that until it was providing a home for humanity.
Since the days of Adam and Eve, our relationship with creation has been out of equilibrium. The dominion God provided us over creation ultimately leads to misuse. But we shouldn't give up! We must strive to reinstate this equilibrium by giving all of creation what it is due! This requires balance and nuance. We must balance care for the earth, with care for human life. We cannot show care for nature without showing care and consideration for the pinnacle of God's creation - humankind.
Over the coming weeks - talk to your children about what manageable things we can do that will make a difference in this world. One simple measure could be discussing with them what can and can't be recycled. The council are very keen to stop our recycling collections from being contaminated. This is one small thing we can do to show respect for the environment.
God bless you all
Ben
